'Star Trek Into Darkness' Creates Big Bang at Hollywood Premiere

After a four-year hiatus from the sci-fi franchise, the stars have finally aligned for the long-awaited premiere of Paramount Pictures' Star Trek Into Darkness.
Starry-eyed trekkies gathered around the revamped Dolby Theatre Tuesday as director J.J. Abrams and intergalactic movie stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Peter Weller and John Cho took to the silver carpet.
Co-writer and producer Damon Lindelof also strolled the carpet and shared his excitement about returning to the U.S.S. Enterprise. “It was just great to walk back onto the bridge of the Enterprise and say, ‘Buckle up, here we go again,'” Lindelof told The Hollywood Reporter.

News crews and esteemed fans gathered around the forecourt of the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre (formerly known as Grauman’s Theatre and Mann’s Theatre) early Saturday morning to honor two-time Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda.
Among the guests were her brother Peter Fonda, her son Troy Garity (Gangster Squad), Jim Carrey, Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria, Maria Shriver and Fonda’s Nine to Five costar Lily Tomlin.
The hand and footprint ceremony commenced with an opening speech from TCM host, Robert Osbourne, followed by Garity, Tomlin and Shriver.

Ever since bluechip dealer Larry Gagosian began scheduling an art opening at his Beverly Hills gallery years back to coincide with Oscar week to draw in all the heavy-hitters in town for the big event, an unofficial art weekend has sprung up around the Academy Awards festivities. This year, six big openings are happening that are sure to lure industry art collectors.
Things kick off Feb. 21 with an opening at Gagosian (456 N. Camden Drive, Beverly Hills) of the show Richard Prince: Cowboys spotlighting the artist's series in which he re-photographs iconic cowboy images used in advertising.
LAFEST Tournament: Agencies, Studios and Stars Hit the Soccer Field for a Good Cause

The Los Angeles Film and Entertainment Soccer Tournament (LAFEST), in partnership with The Mia Hamm Foundation and Grassroot Soccer, kicked off its first annual celebrity soccer charity event on Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Sony Pictures Classics' team emerged the victor of the industry portion of the tournament.
LAFEST co-founders and soccer enthusiasts Dylan Leiner and Jeffrey Saunders hosted the event, alongside pro-sports power couple Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra, as well as Ethan Zohn -- a pro soccer player and the $1 million winner of Survivor's third season -- who also served as co-founder.
Linkin Park Shines ‘One More Light’ at iHeartRadio Album Release Party

High off the release of their seventh studio album One More Light last Friday, Linkin Park hit the State Farm stage at the iHeartRadio Theater in Los Angeles to deliver a career-spanning album release party on Monday night.
Linkin Park launched their intimate show with their world conquering hit "Numb/Encore," featuring Chester Bennington driving the performance with lead vocals and Mike Shinoda providing backup hype verses while striking the keyboard.
Canoeing Requires Heart, Not Sight

NEWPORT BEACH – Blue sky, slight breeze, glassy water; it’s a beautiful morning on Newport Beach’s Back Bay. Anthony Ramsey can imagine it.
He says the bay probably looks “like a harbor in Hawaii,” with the light from the sun gleaming “like sequins” as it dances off the water. The 26-year-old, from Brea, imagines this while sitting at a picnic table, just feet from the sand.
He’s talking about the day nearly seven years ago when, in a freak accident while dirt biking in the desert, the wheel of a dune buggy ran over his head, resulting in permanent blindness.
